Brits

With great natural wonders and wildlife bounty, travelers have good reasons to fly all the way to South Africa. The towns and cities in the country will surely be an eye-opener to what South Africa is all about. A good travel option is Brits, one of the large towns in South Africa.

About the town of Brits

Brits is a one of the citrus-producing territories in the North West Province of South Africa. Near the town is the Gauteng City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality as well as the Hartbeespoort Dam that irrigates Brits fields. Brits is known not only for its thriving agricultural industry but also for its mining reserves. Places to see while in Brits

*De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre - This facility is popular for a successful breeding of wild animals such as cheetahs, king cheetahs, sunis, wild dogs, brown hyenas and blue duiker. Located just at the eastern side of Brits, De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre is where you can have a close encounter with the undomesticated side of nature. By booking a tour, you can view animals such as giraffes, kudus, zebra, waterbucks, hippos and rhinos while riding an open Land Rover. You can also give food to Brits cheetahs during their feeding hours. If you wish to stay longer at this facility near Brits, you can book a chalet in the De Wildt-Shingwedzi Cheetah and Wildlife Ranch.

*Borakalalo National Park - The park is said to be "where people relax". Located about 60 kilometers to the north of Brits, the park has an open bushland and woodland of about 13,500 hectares. The Borakalalo National Park also has a wide river that stretches toward an 800-hectare Klipvoor Dam. The river, called Moretele, is home to many fishes and other water animals. There, you can either go fishing or watch over 350 species of birds that live in the park. If you wish to take a slow tour of the park, you can walk on the trails while being accompanied by a tour guide.

When to go to Brits

If you want to just spend time taking photographs and enjoying natural scenery, visit Brits during the spring. From Brits, you can drive to other towns and see fields bloom with various wild flowers. But if you want to engage in hiking and other outdoor activities, Brits is ideal to visit during winter. The winter season is from June to September, with the outdoors being drier and cooler.

Do you prefer a livelier atmosphere? Book a flight to Brits during the school holiday period. Many Brits activities and festivals are held on such time. School children and tourists add to the bustle in the town. Remember, though, that Brits hotels are usually fully booked during the holiday months. Better make a reservation long before you fly to Brits to successfully get a room and enjoy other accommodations. The advantage of off-peak seasons, however, comes from having lower-priced Brits accommodation.
